Ilana Spiegel is a public school mom, award winning educator, and relentless advocate who’s fighting to lower tuition, protect academic freedom, and keep MAGA politics out of CU. She’s taken on extremists, special interests, and political smear campaigns — and she’s not backing down.

Proven Leadership. Real Results. A Stronger Future for CU.

As your elected Regent for Colorado’s 6th Congressional District, I have dedicated myself to maintaining the University of Colorado’s stature as a beacon of academic excellence, affordability, and innovation. I am proud of our collective progress, yet aware that our mission continues. That’s why I am seeking re-election in 2026. Your support will enable us to further empower CU’s students, faculty, and the broader community.

A Record of Accomplishment Since taking office, I have led efforts to expand access to affordable higher education through enhanced tuition assistance and robust scholarship programs. My tenure has strengthened CU’s commitment to student success, significantly increased investment in cutting-edge research and technology, and bolstered our infrastructure to compete on a national scale. I have been a staunch advocate for policies that prioritize student well-being, including substantial improvements in mental health resources and campus safety. Furthermore, I have promoted increased transparency and accountability within university governance, ensuring that CU maintains its esteemed reputation.

In the face of challenges posed by the Trump Administration’s policies, which threaten the values we uphold, I remain committed to defending and advancing our educational standards. Join me in this crucial effort to continue setting benchmarks for excellence at CU and to counter policies that undermine the progress we strive for.

Together, we’ve made significant progress, and our vision for the University of Colorado is to reach even greater heights. We are committed to expanding career readiness programs and building robust industry partnerships to better prepare our graduates for the workforce. Together, we’ll strengthen financial aid and reduce student debt burdens to ensure CU remains accessible to everyone. We will continue to support our faculty and staff, providing them with the resources needed to deliver world-class education. Additionally, we will collectively advocate for policies that sustain CU’s role as a center for innovation, entrepreneurship, and academic excellence. Let’s continue to advance our mission together, shaping a promising future for CU and all of Colorado

Meet Ilana

Ilana Spiegel’s work has always been grounded in inclusion, equity, and justice. As a CU Regent, she’s fought for students from all walks of life — rural and urban, Jewish and Muslim, Black, brown, and white.

She believes in dignity for every student. And she refuses to let divisive political attacks — from the far-right or anyone else — distract from the work of building a university that serves everyone, not just the privileged few.

Ilana has spent her life fighting for public education — in classrooms, on picket lines, and on the CU Board of Regents. She doesn’t come from a political dynasty. She comes from public schools.

On the Board of Regents, Ilana has:

  • Voted to keep tuition in check and cut costs
  • Championed rural, first-gen, and working-class students
  • Taken on extremists who have tried to turn our classrooms into culture war battlegrounds

This isn’t just about CU. It’s about what kind of Colorado we want to build — and who gets left behind when no one fights back.

What Ilana Is Fighting For

Tuition shouldn’t rise faster than wages. Ilana is fighting to:

  • Keep tuition in check
  • Cut costs without impacting students and faculty
  • Expand scholarships and financial aid for the students who need it most

Right-wing politicians are trying to ban books, muzzle professors, and push propaganda. Not on Ilana’s watch.

  • Voted to protect academic freedom and faculty independence
  • Called out MAGA attacks on truth, science, and higher ed
  • Kept CU from becoming a playground for political agendas

Whether you’re from Aurora or Englewood, CU should work for you.

  • Fought for Latino, Indigenous, and rural student equity
  • Pushed for stronger community college-to-CU pipelines
  • Advanced policies that make diversity a strength, not a talking point

They Trust Her Because She Shows Up and Stands Strong

“Ilana Spiegel is a fearless champion for Colorado’s students and working families. She’s not in this for politics — she’s in it to make a difference. As a CU Regent, Ilana has fought to expand access to higher education, defend democracy, and stand up to extremism. I’m proud to endorse Ilana because she leads with courage, compassion, and an unwavering belief that every Coloradan deserves a fair shot."

Building a Campus Where Every Student Belongs

Ilana knows that real leadership means showing up for everyone — not weaponizing identity or politics to score points.

That’s why she’s worked to:

  • Defend students’ right to express themselves — even when it’s uncomfortable
  • Support interfaith dialogue, cultural learning, and peaceful activism
  • Stand against racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, and all forms of hate

Ilana believes in academic freedom, student safety, and respecting the humanity of every person — including Jewish and Palestinian students who feel targeted or unheard.
